New airline links Dulles and New Haven for the first time
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced Tuesday that Avelo Airlines will begin new nonstop service between Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) on July 12, 2024. Avelo will operate this route twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays, utilizing Boeing next-generation 737 aircraft.

This new direct connection from New Haven will offer seamless access to the heart of the National Capital Region, making it easier than ever to explore Washington's iconic landmarks, attend business meetings and enjoy cultural attractions,” said Paul Bobson, vice president for airline business development for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. "Avelo’s affordable and convenient service, combined with the fast and frequent Silver Line train at Dulles is an ideal fit for value minded travelers flying to and from Washington D.C.”
The announcement was made in Washington, D.C., at the Airports Council International’s JumpStart® Air Service Development Conference, hosted by the Airports Authority and Dulles International. JumpStart® is one of the largest air service conferences with more than 400 airport and airline representatives in attendance.
