Event celebrates nonstop service from Washington to New Haven
Airline and airport executives, staff and passengers gathered Friday, July 12, at Dulles International Airport to celebrate the launch of Avelo Airline’s nonstop service from Washington, D.C., to Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), on a 149-passenger aircraft. The flight departed from Gate B37.
“We welcome Avelo as our 43rd airline at Washington Dulles International Airport,” said Paul Bobson, vice president for airline business development for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. “It’s great to add a year-round option for travelers from the National Capital Region to New Haven and places beyond. Dulles is ideally situated along Metrorail’s Silver Line, which provides access to multiple points in the Washington, D.C., region for less than $7 per rider.”
“I am so excited that Avelo will now offer my constituents flights to travel from New Haven to Washington, D.C.’s Dulles International Airport,” said Connecticut Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro. “Avelo is doing amazing work to connect Southern Connecticut’s travelers to our nation’s Capital, and I am thrilled that residents now have expanded options to visit and experience everything Washington, D.C., has to offer. Whether it be traveling to D.C. for business or recreation, including visiting the national monuments or even stopping by my office in the Capitol, travelers deserve options. Avelo is a great one to have.”
Customers on the inaugural flight from Dulles to New Haven were greeted with a festive celebration including pizza from famous New Haven pizzeria, Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana.
