Flights to Fort Myers and Sarasota launch in fall 2019
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) announced Wednesday that United Airlines will add two daily nonstop flights to Fort Myers (RSW) and Sarasota (SRQ), Florida, beginning October 27, 2019, providing new options when traveling between the U.S. Capital Region and Florida’s Gulf Coast.
“As the gateway to the Washington, D.C., region, we welcome United’s continued growth and investment in new air service routes from Dulles International,” said Yil Surehan, vice president of Airline Business Development with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. “With the addition of this new air service to Fort Myers and Sarasota, United has added more than a dozen new domestic routes from Dulles International in the past 15 months, increasing seat capacity up and down the East Coast of the United States.”
Wednesday’s announcement is the latest in new air service routes from Dulles International in 2019, which saw passenger activity increase by more than 5 percent in 2018. With the addition of these two new air service routes, United Airlines, a STAR Alliance partner, will operate up to 266 daily departures to 118 nonstop destinations from Dulles International in 2019.
"The additions of Sarasota and Fort Myers are a great complement to our route offerings from Washington Dulles," said Omar Idris, Managing Director of the United Airlines Washington Dulles hub. "Our hub has direct access to the nation's capital, unmatched service and opportunities to easily connect to exciting U.S. and international destinations."
