With good reason, the city of Munich has become synonymous with foaming mugs of beer, sizzling sausages, spirited oompah bands, and dirndls and lederhosen as far as the eye can see. Certainly there’s no shortage of them all, but Bavaria’s capital goes beyond skin deep, with exquisite cathedrals and royal palaces, boisterous markets, edgy art galleries, and high tech transport — all a measure of the high living that still greets visitors today, and we can take you there on Lufthansa and United.
Getting There:
Fly nonstop from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) to Munich International Airport (MUC) on Lufthansa’s A380 aircraft. United also offers nonstop service to Munich as well. Flights take approximately eight hours one way. Once in Germany, the S1 and S8 S-Bahn train lines make the half-hour trip into Munich’s city center every 10 minutes.
