As of December 4, 2017, the Virginia Department of Transportation has activated dynamic rush-hour tolling for non-HOV traffic along nine miles of I-66 between the Capital Beltway (I-495) and U.S. 29 in Rosslyn, Virginia. Dulles Airport traffic is no longer exempted from the highway's HOV rules, as in the past.
Hours of Operation: I-66 Express Lanes Inside the Beltway
Traffic from Washington, D.C. to Dulles moves Westbound.
Traffic from Dulles to Washington, D.C. moves Eastbound.
The lanes are free with no tolling or HOV requirement at all other times.
When I-66 tolling is active, E-ZPass will be required in the vehicle. If your vehicle does not have E-ZPass, or you do not wish to pay the toll, consider traveling during off-peak hours, select an alternate route or use Metrorail.
If you are driving a rental car, check with your rental car provider to see which toll-paying options are offered.
